What is an AI cat dance?

A short video where your cat stands up and dances like a person, made from a single still photo. The AI keeps your cat's face, fur and markings and moves it through a dance taken from a real clip.

They took off on TikTok in October 2026, when cat versions of trends such as Smalltown Boy started passing hundreds of thousands of views. Most are made with app templates; here you pick the dance and upload the photo in the browser.

Two dances are open to cat photos right now, because those are the two we tested with a real cat photo: the Gas Station Dance and the Smalltown Boy cat dance. More get added once they pass the same test.

Which dances work with a cat photo

DanceWhat happensWhat it needs from your photo
Gas Station DanceBig arm swings on an open lot; your cat stands up and swings its front paws.Whole body in frame, so the legs have something to work with.
Smalltown BoyPaws on head, a little sway, a second cat dancing behind.A front-facing face; the paws-on-head move is all close-up.

What this does and does not do

  • Does: one cat from your photo, standing and dancing the chosen routine with the original music.
  • Does not: two pets from one photo. One photo, one animal.
  • Made for cats; we have only tested cat photos so far. If a video fails, your credit comes back.

How to make your AI cat dance video

  1. Pick Gas Station Dance or Smalltown Boy in the tool above.
  2. Use a photo of one cat with the whole body in frame and the face sharp. Sitting upright works well; a curled-up cat gives the AI less to go on.
  3. Confirm it is your pet (or you have the owner's OK), sign in, then hit Make my dance video. Expect about 7 minutes, with an email when it is done.
  4. Save the MP4 from My videos within a week.

How we tested it

The cat photo below is a public-domain photo from Wikimedia Commons. The clips are unedited outputs at 480×832; we have not upscaled them.

Orange tabby sitting on a balcony, looking back over its shoulder

It stood up on its back legs, swung its front paws through the whole routine and kept its stripes and green eyes. Big grins came out of nowhere: the mouth opens with the beats.

The front cat in the living room became our tabby, paws on head and all; the second cat behind kept dancing as in the original. The face stayed sharp at this close range.

AI cat dance questions

What is an AI cat dance?

A video where the cat from your photo stands up and dances a real routine, with the original music. One photo in, one MP4 out.

Which photo works best?

One cat, whole body in frame, face sharp and lit. Sitting upright and facing the camera gives the best result; avoid photos where the cat is curled up or half hidden.

Can I use a dog photo?

You can try, but we have only tested cats so far, so we do not promise how a dog comes out. If the video fails, the credit is refunded.

Can two cats dance together?

Not from one photo. The tool takes one photo with one animal; in the Smalltown Boy clip the second cat is the one from the original video.

How long is the video?

7 seconds, portrait 960×1664.

Is my photo kept?

No. It is deleted as soon as the video is made (within a day at most).

How much is an AI cat dance video?

$7.99 for your first video, then $9.90, no subscription; bigger packs are on the pricing page. Failed videos hand the credit straight back.
